History

Mexico-Nuevo Laredo Highway

It is well known that in the original plane of the line of Mexico-Nuevo Laredo Highway in the stretch for the town of Sabinas Hidalgo was a line starting from the Cuesta de Mamulique was to pass and then Garza Ayala and Vallecillo. We owe to two men from Sabinas that the original plan was modified to bypass the line and to touch the town: General Plutarco Elías Calles and General Juan Adreu Almazan.

In 1926, when began this great construction, a commission composed by Antonio G. Garza, Don Gorgonio Ruiz Ayala, Jose María Ancira and others asked that they should do to pass the road by accessing Sabinas Calles and Almazan lords to the petition. Sabinas Hidalgo owes to this work its economic growth on first half of the 20th. Century, the part of town crossing the road, has become a prime shopping area, the booming trade, the ease of freight travel has contributed all of this in population growth.

In late 2002 in the town of Sabinas Hidalgo, began operating the issuance road, diverting heavy traffic from the center of our city greatly reducing traffic, diverting thousands of trailers that pass daily. Thanks to this we have a better traffic flow in the municipality.
